COMPLIANCE – Introduction for clients
The Money Laundering Regulations 2017 (MLR 2017) require us to carry out due diligence on our clients and their source of funds.
What we need
Converse Law is required to conduct Client Due Diligence (CDD) in accordance with MLR 2017. We will need the documentation as required below to complete our CDD procedures.
For businesses (including partnerships), we need copy identity documents for each director/partner and anybody who owns 25% (or more) of the shares in the company. Copy identity documents needed for each individual will be one item from Table A and one item from Table B. Please email complete copies of your identity documents so that all numbers, addresses, dates, and references are clearly shown.
For private individuals please provide one item from Table A and one item from Table B, and email complete copies of your identity documents so that all numbers, addresses, dates, and references are clearly shown.
Table A – Photo ID
• Valid passport
• Valid photo card driving licence
• National identity card
Table B – Proof of current home address
• Utility bill*
• Bank statement*
• Current council tax bill
*The document must be a copy or photo of an original document (ie not printed from the internet) and must be dated within the last 3 months of the date that you provide it to us. If you are providing a council tax bill it must be the most up-to-date bill relevant for the year in which you provide it to us.
Using the data from your ID, we will run online ID checks using SmartSearch.com. This will leave a soft ‘footprint’ on your credit file, which shows the search has been carried out. We are assured that this will not affect your credit status in any way.
